Art Exchange

This week we have had an art exchange. We went to all the junior classes. We went to Mrs Trewin for music, Mr McKenzie for dance and Mrs Dickson for drama. In our classroom we learned how to make things out of clay. We made some pretty cool clay tiles.

SPACIFIX

We had a visit from SPACIFIX. They are a band. They were great singers and they played with our instruments in the classroom.

Dress up day

We had a dress up day to raise money for kids with Asthma. Here are some pictures of us in our costumes. They all start with either 'a' for asthma, or 'b' for balloon day. The whole school dressed up, even Mr Watson.

We went to Countdown today because we are learning all about how bread is made.

Check out our bakery trip photos.

Have you seen our new building?

The builders have been making lots of noise outside. Our new offices are almost built. We got to write our names on the plastic covering that is on the walls. They will be under the bricks forever (or for as long as the building is there!) The brick layers have been working hard this week covering them up.

Volcanoes

Last term we made volcanoes in the sand pit. We put vinegar and baking soda into film canisters. They made a big mess and were very smelly.

Art

We have been learning to paint our portraits. We practiced how to make them by drawing them with crayon first. Here are some hard workers drawing their picture plans. You can check out the finished pictures hanging in the cloakbay.

Last Thursday the Easter Bunny let us a letter. He hid 17 Easter eggs in our classroom! It took us 25 minutes to find them all, he is very tricky. Even Miss Nielsen didn't know where the eggs were hidden so we had to hunt very hard. The eggs were filled with jelly beans. Yum. Did you get anything from the Easter Bunny?

Writing

We have been learning about persuasive writing this term. Here is what we know so far.

We hope you enjoyed our movie. (I hope this loads for you, let me know if it is not working properly for you). Hopefully this is the first of many movies that we will make to share.

We have had a visitor in our classroom. She is Sabrina Doll. She came all the way from Germany. She has been helping Brayden and Joseph do their reading.
She has been plaing hide and seek with the children. Kaleb found her behind the computer!

Sabrina helped Mana to sort out his homework book.

Sabrina has been having fun in our class but we need to send her to Dunedin now. Bye Sabrina.

We are sitting by Constable Marty. He told us important things. He taught us how to walk away from trouble. Joseph walked away from Constable Marty when we were doing our play. He taught us not to let people touch under our swimming togs.
On Wednesday everyone made a pig at the public library. Kane made a yellow pig. We had a look at stories. Ibrahim got a library card. They are gold. The lady read us books and stories. We got booksout to take home.

Today is special because it is leap day. It happens every four years. We have been learning about frogs. We put paint on our noses so that we can be frogs. Here is a picture of Rodene and Joseph, the frogs.

The School Picnic

The picnic was at Anderson's Park. We went in the big house. We saw an olden days potty.

There was a gumboot in the water that people kept on looking at.
We got ice blocks from Bertie Budgie.

Joseph, Kaleb, Levi, Rodene, Kane, Mana, Brayden, Ryah and Brooke all got to go on the roundabout with Bertie.

Mikaele's favourite thing was jumping in front of the pretend car.

Our class

Our class has been hard at work this week. We have all got our sunhats and are trying very hard to remember to wear them outside.

Here we are using our little offices. They help us to concentrate on our own work, and to find words that we need to write.
